Agartala: Police booked a 70-year-old man and his son for sexually assaulting a mentally challenged woman. The victim is now six months pregnant. The abuse occurred in the Bhagaban Nagar Gram Panchayat area. The suspects are Kanta Das and his married son, Gautam Das, also known as Kajal.
The victim is a 26-year-old divorcee living at her father's home with her seven-year-old child. Kanta Das was a neighbor who convinced the woman to visit his house. He allegedly attacked her in his kitchen. Gautam Das then assaulted her repeatedly. The men threatened the victim to keep her quiet.
The family grew suspicious after noticing physical changes in the victim. They took her to a doctor. The medical exam confirmed the pregnancy. Her father, a farmer, filed a written complaint at the Kailashahar Women's Police Station on Sunday afternoon. Police have launched a full investigation into the case. Authorities stated, "A complete investigation has been launched into the case based on the complaint."
