Itanagar: Dr. Tayek Talom took charge as the Vice Chancellor of Apex Professional University in Pasighat on August 1, 2026. He is the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to lead the school in its 13-year history. Chancellor Acharya Dhanwant Singh administered the Oath of Allegiance during the ceremony.
Talom is a veteran educator. He previously worked as the Director of Higher and Technical Education for the Arunachal Pradesh government. He brings deep experience in policy and academic governance to the job.
Addressing the campus community, Talom said: "his focus would be on building a student-centric institution driven by academic excellence, innovation, research, creativity, discipline, ethical leadership and enhanced employability." He plans to push interdisciplinary learning and adopt new technologies while expanding ties with various industries.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees. Programs include law, forensic sciences, technology, pharmacy, nursing, and yogic science. The school operates under the Apex Professional University Act of 2013 as a UGC-recognized private institution.
