Professor Ashan Riddi Named Vice-Chancellor of Arunachal Pradesh University

Itanagar: Professor Ashan Riddi officially took the helm as Vice-Chancellor of Arunachal Pradesh University in Pasighat on September 16. Officials confirmed the appointment in the East Siang district. He replaces Professor Tomo Riba, the founding leader of the institution, who stepped down on February 28.

Riddi brings 27 years of experience to the role. He previously worked as a Professor in the Department of History at Rajiv Gandhi University. His academic focus centers on the culture of Northeast India, tribal history, and colonial resistance movements. He also holds a PhD in History from Rajiv Gandhi University.

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein praised the selection. Mein believes Riddi will bolster research and academic performance at the school. In a social media post, Mein addressed the transition. "This is a significant responsibility, and I wish Professor Riddi a successful and meaningful tenure ahead," Mein said.

Beyond his teaching duties, Riddi handled various administrative tasks during his tenure at Rajiv Gandhi University. State leadership expects this change to drive long-term growth for the university system. They want a stronger ecosystem for research and local innovation.
