Kohima: Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Kohima hosted a ceremony on August 14 to toast former students who aced the 2026 Nagaland Public Service Commission exams. The event gathered students and staff at the school auditorium to celebrate five standout alumni.
Virienuo Emilia Solo, Philomina Rutsa, and Richungmong T landed Extra Assistant Commissioner posts. Keneisa-u Kense became a District Commandant. Neiputshekho Zhunyu earned a spot as an Assistant Jailor. They beat the odds. The winners shared stories of persistence and reminded students to respect teachers and parents.
Kohima District Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem, an alumnus himself, acted as the special guest. He urged the graduates to lead with empathy. Success requires grit. Buchem reminded the group that civil service is about people, not personal status. He noted that successful officials are people of “iron will and determination” who push through failure. The DC joined the Nagaland Civil Service in 2004 after failing his initial attempt.
Buchem warned the new officers that power is a heavy burden. He told them, “Authority is entrusted to a civil servant not for personal glory or status; it is for public good and public service.” He expects them to stay grounded in the Constitution and their own conscience. The event followed the theme, “Dream. Believe. Achieve.”
Rev Dr Fr Xavier Mattam led the prayer. Rev Fr Innocent Panmei delivered the welcome address. The ceremony closed with a vote of thanks after music and readings. Buchem left the graduates with one final thought: “public office is a public trust.”
