Kohima: The Nagaland Planning and Transformation Department sent 30 candidates to New Delhi for UPSC coaching. Officials hosted an orientation at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima on August 10. These students beat out 120 applicants in a competitive exam held on July 25. The group will train at Vajiram and Ravi.

Principal Secretary Y. Kikheto Sema addressed the room. He reminded the students that they are future leaders. He told them, "Success comes through hard work and perseverance." The state government has invested roughly 277 lakh rupees in student support via the Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund over the last four years. Officials earmarked 64.5 lakh rupees for this specific cohort.

The department maintains strict oversight. Students must maintain 90 percent attendance to stay in the program. Joint Development Commissioner Heinswading praised the initiative as a way to help local youth compete on a national stage. Candidates signed formal undertakings and held an interactive session. The students pledged to return with results for the state.
