Guwahati: Cachar Police pulled over a truck near the Balachara toll gate on the Silchar-Haflong National Highway and found a massive haul of contraband. Officers from the Barkhola Police Station intercepted the vehicle as it headed toward Guwahati. They discovered 34,400 packs of foreign-made ESSE Lights cigarettes hidden inside. The haul is worth several lakh rupees.

Police arrested the driver and his assistant at the scene. They suspect the pair was moving the goods through an illicit smuggling network. Authorities are digging into the operation to track the source and final destination of the shipment. "Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the source and intended destination of the cigarettes." Detectives want to name every individual involved in this transport scheme.
