Guwahati: Cachar Police pulled 2.2 kilograms of suspected heroin and 10,000 yaba tablets off the streets Sunday. The two separate anti-drug operations happened on September 13 in Assam. Both hauls originated in Mizoram.
Officers flagged down a truck at the Ramnagar Bypass near Silchar Police Station. They found the heroin hidden in a custom compartment built inside the vehicle, registered as AS01 NC 8893. The truck arrived from the Champhai district. Police arrested Abdul Rahim Laskar, a local from Lailapur in the Dholai area. Detectives are now interrogating Laskar to pin down the drug network and uncover the final destination for the haul.
A second team raided the Gumrah market area in Kalain. They netted 10,000 yaba tablets worth an estimated Rs 1 crore. The investigation into the supply chain continues. Officials maintain a stern stance on regional trafficking. "Further investigation is underway in both cases to establish the supply chain and identify other persons allegedly involved in the transportation and distribution of the narcotics," stated police.
