Guwahati: Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohilary went on the offensive October 23. He told the rival United People's Party Liberal to quit the race before voting starts. Mohilary insists his party, the Bodoland People's Front, will sweep the upcoming by-elections without a fight.

The seats in question include Rowta, Kajalgaon, and Darangajuli. Mohilary dismissed the opposition's chances entirely. He stated, "UPPL should surrender; there is no point in contesting the elections."

The BPF expects a total walkover. Whether the UPPL actually bows out remains unclear. Political observers note that final results depend on the official filing process and who stays in the running when ballots are cast.
