Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party and Bodoland People’s Front met in Kokrajhar on September 2. They want a tighter grip on the Bodoland Territorial Region. Both sides aim to fix coordination gaps in the local administration. BTR Chief and BPF president Hagrama Mohilary pushed for a united front to handle regional development and governance.
Mohilary promised to slot BJP members into key advisory roles. These include Village Council Development Committees, Nikay Boards, CSB, TCLCC, and the Land Advisory Committee. "Both parties to work in close coordination for the development and administration of the BTC area," Mohilary said. This move hopes to soothe relations between the BPF-led administration and the BJP.
The meeting drew a heavy crowd of power brokers. BJP district in-charge Shankar Prasad Roy and president Gosai Basumatary attended. BPF was represented by general secretary and MLA Maneswar Brahma, alongside MLAs Rupam Chandra Roy, Sobharam Basumatary, Rabiram Narzary, and Sewli Mohilary. Additional senior leaders rounded out the guest list.
Expect more of this. The parties plan to drag this show into Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, and Tamulpur. These future district meetings will lock in the partnership. Recent electoral shifts in Assam gave this alliance new teeth.
