Guwahati: Bodoland Territorial Council Chief Hagrama Mohilary ordered a complete review of the current BTC Land Policy on September 16. He chaired an executive council meeting at the A-Block conference hall in the Bodofa Nwgwr Secretariat to address growing public and social media pushback. Officials from the Land and Revenue Department now hold the responsibility for this review.
Mohilary also hit the reset button on hiring. He scrapped the recruitment process for over 1,700 posts filled during the previous UPPL-led administration. Officials found irregularities including incomplete interview processes. "Examinations and results pertaining to these posts would be cancelled," Mohilary said. He confirmed the council will issue fresh advertisements and restart the entire interview cycle.
The council offered a brighter update for the Forest Department. They verified 394 candidates for 414 Forester-I and Forest Guard positions. These successful applicants will receive their appointment letters soon.
Higher education changes are also in motion. The BTC government filed a proposal with the Assam government to add six new departments to Bodoland University. These include Physical Education, Sociology, Sericulture, Fine Arts, and Library and Information Science. The plan adds Hindi, Bengali, and Nepali as Modern Indian Language subjects. These additions would grow the university from its current 17 departments.
