Kohima: The Brillante Piano Festival opened its sixth edition at the British Council in New Delhi on September 18. Running through September 20, the event marks a move from its original 2017 launch in Kohima to the nation's capital. Pianist and music educator Khyochano TCK founded the festival to highlight the history and future of the instrument through workshops, performances, masterclasses, and competitions.
Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor to School Education and SCERT, attended the opening to push for institutional collaboration. He noted that Nagaland maintains an exclusive department for music and arts. Yhome praised the young performers, adding, "As you can see from the talents of our youngsters, you will see that we are highly adaptive."
Alison Barrett MBE, Country Director of British Council India, pointed to the event as a clear sign of cultural exchange between India and the UK. She emphasized that music bridges communities and reaches global audiences. Khyochano TCK thanked the stakeholders who helped grow the festival over six editions, focusing on building sustainable paths for music and culture across the country.
