Kohima: Bhandari town council hosted a Catch the Rain awareness event on July 24, 2026. The session took place at the summer house-cum-guest house under the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidar campaign. BTC deputy chairman Likao Odyuo chaired the meeting.
Chairman Khonthungia Odyuo opened the floor with a welcome address. Speakers included EAC Bhandari Kilangtemsu and SDO of PHED Bhandari Er. K. Hukato Shohe. They focused on protecting water bodies and managing resources. Experts asked, "Why should we catch the rain and how to prevent water shortage by storing water during dry seasons" as they pushed for better conservation.
Attendees heard clear instructions on modern harvesting tactics. The program ended with a vote of thanks from Khosathung Tsapoe, a councillor from Chanka Ward. Officials urged all local participants to take action on water storage.
