Bhandari Town Council Hosts Rainwater Harvesting Awareness Drive

Kohima: Bhandari Town Council held an awareness program for the Catch the Rain campaign on July 24, 2026. The event took place at the summer house-cum-guest house in Bhandari town. Officials aimed to boost the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidar initiative.

Likao Odyuo, deputy chairman of the Bhandari Town Council, chaired the meeting. Khonthungia Odyuo, the council chairman, gave the welcome address. Resource persons Kilangtemsu, the EAC of Bhandari, and K. Hukato Shohe, the SDO of PHED, spoke to attendees about protecting local water bodies and using resources efficiently.

The group addressed specific conservation goals. They discussed the core question: "Why should we catch the rain and how to prevent water shortage by storing water during dry seasons" as they pushed for better local water management.

Participants heard calls to contribute to community conservation efforts. Khosathung Tsapoe, a councillor for the Chanka Ward, closed the event by proposing a vote of thanks.
