Agartala: Baivab Roy clinched the top spot in Tripura with an All India Rank of 168 in the 2026 NEET-UG exam. The student, who lives at Rajib Corner in Belonia, South Tripura, racked up 686 out of 720 total marks. The National Testing Agency conducted this high-stakes medical entrance test.
Roy is the son of radiographer Biswanath Roy. Neighbors and teachers praised his steady work ethic and humble roots after the results dropped. On Sunday evening, the Belonia Mandal held a celebration at his grandfather’s home near Vidyapith Park. Leaders gave him a traditional Hrisha, a bouquet, and a portrait of Swami Vivekananda.
Belonia Mandal president Sayantan Datta and vice-president Arup Bhowmik attended the event alongside other local figures. Datta told the crowd that the win serves as a major motivator for students across the region. "Baivab's success is a matter of pride for Belonia and Tripura. His achievement will inspire the younger generation to work towards their goals with dedication and self-confidence," Datta said. This performance solidifies Roy's standing among the nation's elite medical school applicants.
