Belonia Administration Seizes Expired Goods in Market Raid

Agartala: DCM Sanjay Shil led a major raid across the Belonia municipal area, Barpathari, and Sonaichhari this Sunday. The team targeted business establishments to pull dangerous products from shelves. They recovered a haul of expired food including chips, cold drinks, ghee, honey, biscuits, and bakery items.

Traders destroyed the seized goods on the spot under official watch. The team also confiscated 45 kilograms of banned polythene bags, replacing them with biodegradable versions. They found 25 litres of diesel stored illegally. Officials imposed Rs 3,000 in fines and served violation notices to 12 traders. Safety first.

DCM Shil said the administration will keep a close eye on all local markets. The goal is to keep shoppers safe and keep standards high. He noted, "such drives are aimed at raising awareness among both consumers and traders about the dangers of expired and substandard products." The raid sent a blunt message that the administration will not tolerate any negligence regarding public health or environmental rules.
