Kohima: The Food Safety Administration in Dimapur suspended the license of M/s Bothra Sweets & Provisions on October 1. The shop ignored an improvement notice regarding filthy food preparation areas. The business must stay closed for at least 15 days.
Authorities can keep the doors locked until the owners finish all mandatory cleanup work. The Designated Officer confirmed the penalty during a press update. Other businesses also face heat. Officials served improvement notices to several shops for failing to meet basic hygiene standards.
Inspectors will revisit these sites soon. They plan to verify if the owners fixed the violations. Failure to comply brings heavy penalties under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006. The state now uses the Risk-Based Inspection System to watch food sellers. The agency described the method, noting it "focuses regulatory resources on intensive inspections of high-risk food businesses and represents a shift from a rigid, product-based inspection model to a dynamic, risk-based process assessing overall operational safety controls." This shift aims to clean up high-risk operations across the zone.
