Dimapur College Hosts Workshop on Detecting Food Adulterants

Kohima: Dimapur Government College hosted a workshop on food adulteration August 29 in its seminar hall. The Department of Chemistry teamed up with the Food Safety Administration and the Office of the CMO, Dimapur Zone, to run the event. The college Internal Quality Assurance Cell covered the costs.

Jimokali Zhekheto Zhimomi, an assistant professor of sociology, chaired the session. Dr. H. Atoholi Sema opened the floor before Principal Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir took the stage. He pushed students to prioritize food safety awareness. He told them, "remain diligent and excel in academics to build a better future."

Food technicians Zuthungbemo Ngullie and Lika Assumi ran the main event. Working under the Food Safety on Wheels initiative, they showed students how to test for common contaminants. The staff provided hands-on training for quick, on-the-spot detection.

The session also featured a breakdown of current Food Safety and Standards Authority of India campaigns. Temsunungsang Aier from the Department of Physics ended the day with a vote of thanks. Faculty and students attended, eager to learn methods for vetting food quality amid public health concerns.
