ATTSA Claims Sivasagar Flood Victims Left Without Government Aid

Guwahati: The Doomdooma Regional Committee of the Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (ATTSA) says flood-hit villages in Sivasagar district remain empty-handed. Families there have received no government support despite massive damage from recent floods.

An ATTSA delegation toured Chontok Tea Estate, Hanuman Tea Estate, Bamunpukhuri Tea Estate, Nepalikhuti village, and the Chikri bridge area on Thursday. They brought their own supplies to hand out. The scenes were grim. "Our team witnessed heartbreaking scenes of devastation. The people told us they have not received any assistance from either the government or the district administration till now," said Irot Tanti, the group's regional president.

Tanti noted that families are struggling to live through these rough conditions. Voluntary help isn't enough to fix the scale of the damage. The group is now calling on officials to survey the wreckage and get supplies to every household immediately. They want rehabilitation and long-term support for these vulnerable areas.

Leaders from the ATTSA Tinsukia district unit, ATTWA representatives, and local volunteers joined the relief drive. The organization thanked its members but insisted that official intervention cannot wait. "We appeal to the government and the administration to stand beside the flood-affected people during this humanitarian crisis," Tanti said.
