Assam Rifles Seize Methamphetamine Worth Rs 5.59 Crore in Mizoram

Guwahati: Assam Rifles and the Narcotics Control Bureau seized 6.991 kg of methamphetamine on September 12. The haul carries a street value of Rs 5.59 crore. Officers intercepted two vehicles in Seling, Mizoram, acting on a tip regarding a drug shipment. The stop turned up the drugs and triggered an immediate arrest of two suspects.

The Spear Corps led the operation to disrupt trafficking rings. Security forces continue to hunt for the drug source and any wider network connections. The Spear Corps stated on X that the move "demonstrated the security forces’ resolve to dismantle narcotics networks and prevent the movement of illegal drugs in the region."

This bust follows a massive operation involving the CRPF and state police in Jiribam, Manipur, and Sribhumi, Assam. Those raids netted 10.891 kg of brown sugar valued at Rs 80 crore and 14,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 2.5 crore. Police picked up six people during those earlier strikes. Investigators are now connecting the dots to find the players behind the Mizoram supply chain.
