Guwahati: Assam Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Pijush Hazarika visited Kumtai on July 19. He spent the day inspecting the Falangani Lift Irrigation Scheme to gauge its operational health. Proper irrigation keeps crops alive. The minister held a sit-down with Irrigation Department officials to talk through the current performance of the water project.

Hazarika gave strict orders to the team on site. He told them to ensure the scheme runs smoothly to give farmers uninterrupted water support. These pumps must work when the crops need them most. He stated, "The minister emphasised that proper functioning of irrigation infrastructure is essential for enhancing agricultural productivity and supporting the livelihoods of farmers across Assam." Better water access means higher yields for the region.
