Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma opened a 595 kWp ground-mounted, on-grid solar power plant at Koomber Tea Estate on October 1. The facility stands as a major move to push clean energy across the state. Power is up.

This plant is one piece of the larger 3.11 MW Goodricke Tea Estates Solar Programme. The project integrates renewable energy directly into the tea industry to help local businesses cut costs and clean up their power supply. The Chief Minister stated, "The project will help the tea estate sector adopt cleaner energy solutions while contributing to Assam's broader goal of building a greener and more sustainable future."

The move supports the Green Assam mission. The state relies on the tea industry to drive its economy. New energy sources will keep this sector competitive while meeting environmental targets.
