Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hit the stage in Raha on September 28. He joined the crowd in an impromptu dance at the Raha Sports Association playground. The mood was electric. The event served as a major campaign stop for Debashish Sharma, the candidate for the BJP-led alliance in the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll.
Raha MLA Sashikanta Das welcomed the Chief Minister to the grounds. Several top officials joined them on the podium, including ministers Pijush Hazarika, Keshab Mahanta, and Jayanta Malla Baruah. MLA Pradut Bordoloi also attended the rally.
Sarma did not hold back once he took the microphone. He leveled sharp attacks against the Congress party and AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal. He told the gathered voters that the seat is ready for a change in leadership. Sarma said, "The Nagaon Lok Sabha seat would go to the BJP this time." He urged every person in attendance to cast their ballot for the lotus symbol.
The Chief Minister left the site shortly after his address. He has a second campaign meeting booked for later today in the Samaguri constituency of the Nagaon district.
