Guwahati: BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri threatened to cut state-sponsored Orunodoi benefits for voters who walked out of a September 30 campaign rally in Dolonghat. The Nagaon constituency event supported BJP candidate Debashish Sharma. Attendees arrived at 12:30 pm, but Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia, and Deuri did not appear until 3:30 pm.

Crowds began leaving as soon as the Union Minister arrived. Deuri grabbed the microphone to stop the exodus. He invoked the curse of their children while warning the crowd that God and Allah would not forgive those who abandoned the meeting early. Deuri stated, "Will cut Orunodoi benefits."

The MLA urged voters to back the party lotus symbol. He told the remaining crowd to reflect on their choices on the night of April 5, claiming God would guide their decision toward the BJP. The remarks sparked laughter among the audience. Both Sonowal and Saikia were seen laughing during the speech.
