Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu handed appointment letters to 131 new Post-Graduate Teachers on July 16. The candidates survived a rigorous selection process. A total of 5,774 people applied for the jobs. Only 131 made the final cut.
The General Administration Department hosted the ceremony. Official records show 5,726 candidates sat for the preliminary exam on November 2, 2025. Then, 1,356 passed the main exams held in February 2026. Finally, 337 reached the interview stage. The recruitment notification originally dropped on August 10, 2025.
Khandu praised the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for the turnaround. He credited recent reforms for the efficiency. He noted that the state overhauled its recruitment system to plug loopholes. "Following the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to focus on reforms across every sector, we undertook comprehensive reforms in our recruitment agencies," Khandu said.
The administration also built the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board to clean up hiring. Khandu highlighted the rising success of women in state exams. He claimed the future is in safe hands. He told the new staff their role goes beyond just teaching. "You are not merely teachers; you are guides and role models. Along with imparting knowledge, your responsibility is to motivate students to realise their potential and prepare them for future challenges," he remarked.
The government is pushing hard on education. They launched Mission Shikshit Arunachal-2029 to overhaul school quality. They already merged over 600 under-used schools. The state wants model schools with better hostels and infrastructure. Khandu also pointed to a scholarship scheme. The government covers up to 75 percent of costs for students getting into the top 150 universities globally. He said the state must leverage its massive potential in tourism, mining, and hydropower.
