Itanagar: Taru Talo took his oath as a new member of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission in Itanagar. Commission Chairman Prof. Paradip Lingfa administered the oaths of office and secrecy. Senior bureaucrats and officials watched the ceremony.
Talo is a 2011 AGMUT cadre IAS officer. He retired on March 31, 2026, following three decades of military and civil service. He hails from Ziro in Lower Subansiri district. His career began at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Hyderabad, where he trained as a fighter pilot. He also served as an Acting Sub-Lieutenant, marking his place as the first naval officer from Arunachal Pradesh.
He held several administrative posts across the state. These included Extra Assistant Commissioner at Tezu, Director of Tourism, Joint Secretary of Finance, and Director of Industries between 2021 and 2023. He joined the Indian Administrative Service in April 2023. His final roles included Secretary of Labour and Employment and Secretary of the State Election Commission.
Talo wants to clean up the process. He told India Today, "My previous experience as Secretary of the State Election Commission would help me contribute effectively to the APPSC and ensure that examinations and recruitment processes are conducted in a free and fair manner." He asked candidates to trust the board.
Chairman Lingfa outlined the new hiring framework. New recruitment rules mandate 100 percent reservation for eligible Scheduled Tribe candidates holding a Permanent Resident Certificate. The commission will apply these rules to all upcoming vacancies and exams. Lingfa told candidates to work hard and keep faith in the system.
