Arunachal MP Backs Ziro Indigenous Gurukul

Itanagar: Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak toured the Miji Migumn Yarko in Ziro Valley on September 18. He promised to back the school in its mission to protect local faith and traditions. This facility, known as an indigenous Gurukul, serves students in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The school blends standard classroom academics with deep dives into local culture. It teaches students prayer practices, traditional values, and history. The institution even started using a textbook titled "Miji Migumn Yarko" for Class I students to push mother-tongue literacy. Protecting the indigenous language is a top priority.

Tagak walked through the residential campus to see operations firsthand. He met with staff to discuss how the school integrates heritage into its daily lessons. The initiative receives backing from the Donyi Polo Cultural and Charitable Trust and the state government. The Department of Indigenous Affairs plays a key role in these efforts to balance formal schooling with cultural survival.
