MP Tai Tagak urges Arunachal youth to pursue sports and leadership

Itanagar: Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak visited Don Bosco College in Jullang, Itanagar, on August 27. He spoke at the Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvaad, an event held for National Sports Day 2026. Mera Yuva Bharat organized the meeting to connect students with five primary goals: sports, Olympic goals, youth leadership, Viksit Bharat, and a drug-free generation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke via video conference, while Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya joined the national event.

Tagak called the youth the backbone of the country. He pushed students to look past simple grades and build character instead. Education means more than just passing exams. He challenged them to build discipline, embrace innovation, and serve their communities. The MP told the crowd, "Education is not merely about passing examinations but also about developing discipline, character and opportunities."

Graduates should look into entrepreneurship and self-reliance. He argued that the future requires courage and creativity more than just paper certificates. To build a disciplined generation, Tagak promoted the slogan, "Khel se jodo, nasha chhodo," which translates to joining sports and quitting drugs. The session looked at nurturing talent for the 2036 Olympics and building volunteer networks. Students, MY Bharat volunteers, and local leaders finished the day by taking the Viksit Bharat Nasha Mukt Pledge, committing to a drug-free, healthy nation.
