Agartala: Tripura earned national recognition for its use of the Government e-Marketplace on August 10. The state took home the GeM Sustained Adoption award during the platform's 10th anniversary celebration at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal presented the honor to Dr. Akinchan Sarkar, Additional Secretary of the Tripura Finance Department. The award highlights the state's work to make public buying more efficient and open. Government offices in Tripura now rely on the platform to boost accountability and get better value for public funds.

The event featured several high-ranking officials. Secretary of the Department of Commerce Rajesh Agarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Telecommunication S. Krishnan, and GeM CEO Maher Kumar attended the ceremony. State representatives reiterated a promise to increase platform usage, stating the government remains "committed to further expanding the use of GeM across departments to improve efficiency, transparency and value for money in public procurement."

This win puts Tripura at the front of digital governance efforts. State leaders aim to keep integrating technology into day-to-day administration. The move aligns the state with national standards for public service delivery and innovation.
