Agartala: A Special Investigation Team from Tripura has reached New Delhi to dig into the sudden death of DGP Anurag Dhankhar. The investigators are widening their search beyond state lines. The team aims to piece together the events surrounding the senior officer's passing.
Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak leads the unit. Other team members include Inspector Rana Chatterjee, Women Inspector Shiuli Das, Sub-Inspector Subendu Das, Additional SP Dhruba Nath, Additional SP Souvik De, Deputy SP Benjamin Dewan, and Inspector Bhaskar Saha. They report that the mission is to conduct a "thorough, coordinated and expeditious investigation" into the case.
The state government formed the team on July 25. This move addresses West Agartala Police Station Unnatural Death Case No. 2026WAG045. Officials registered this case on July 20 under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Detectives are now questioning witnesses and checking digital communications. They are scrutinizing professional and personal interactions from Dhankhar's final days to find any potential external factors.
