Agartala: Tripura officials started residential job training for 55 returnees at the Construction Workers Training Institute in Khumulwng. The state wants to build sustainable livelihoods. This initiative falls under the Returnees Rehabilitation Initiative.
West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar opened the event. Other attendees included DSD Director Pradeep K, MDC Utpal Debbarma, Principal Er. Sumit Majumdar, and Biswamohan Debbarma. They joined trainers and students to kick off the project.
The Tripura Small Industry Corporation Ltd is teaching 25 people how to be self-employed tailors over a 60-day span. Meanwhile, the Construction Workers Training Institute is training 30 candidates as brick masons. That course lasts 75 days.
The government provides housing, food, and classrooms. These resources follow approved DSD norms. Officials stressed the need for steady attendance to ensure success. The Directorate wants trainees to gain real work experience. "The programmes are being implemented by the DSD and organised at CWTIT in coordination with the concerned training providers."
This effort aims for socio-economic empowerment. It targets better employment and self-employment for those who turned themselves in. Practical training remains the top priority for the state.
