Tripura MP Demands Tribal Skill Center in Rajya Sabha

Agartala: Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee called for a technology-driven residential skill development and employment centre in Tripura this Tuesday. He wants this facility to serve the state’s tribal youth specifically. Bhattacharjee argues the center will provide vocational training aligned with modern industry needs. The goal is simple: make tribal youth self-reliant.

The MP did not hold back on his predecessors. He claimed that previous Left Front and Congress governments ignored the specific needs of tribal communities. He noted a major shift since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, citing improvements in regional connectivity, infrastructure, and education. He believes his proposed institution will allow young people to play a more effective role in the national growth story.

Bhattacharjee also praised the Prime Minister for mentioning Tripura’s traditional instrument, the Chongpreng, and folk artist Suraj Kumar Debbarma on the radio show Mann Ki Baat. He stated, "This recognition has brought national honour to Tripura’s rich traditions and will inspire artists and cultural workers across the state." The MP remains focused on the government's broader pledge of Viksit Tripura, Viksit Bharat, promising to keep pushing for tribal progress and cultural preservation.
