Tripura Farmers Expect Bumper Aman Paddy Harvest

Agartala: Fields across the Kalyanpur Agricultural Sub-Division are flush with green Aman paddy. Farmers from Ghilatli, Madhya Kalyanpur, Dwarikapur, Gopalnagar, Ratia, and Shantinagar are working from dawn until dusk. They are busy clearing weeds and applying fertilizer. The monsoon rains nourished the soil and strengthened the plants.

Local cultivators Mahendra Debnath and Rajib Pal of Ghilatli report healthy growth. They hope the yield will feed their families and provide surplus for the market. "Aman paddy is more than just a crop, it is the backbone of their household economy." This success depends entirely on the coming weather. Farmers still fear storms, drought, and pest outbreaks.

The work continues. Producers want better guidance from the agriculture department. They need timely access to quality seeds, fertilizer, and expert advice to prevent losses. Costs are rising. Farmers insist the government must help secure fair market prices for their grain. Without good prices, a large harvest will not result in actual profit. The community remains focused on the fields while watching the sky.
