Imphal: The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) is pushing for an impartial investigation into the case of Naga educator and advocate Daisingam Malangmei. Also known as Ambrose O. Kamei or Ambrose Freebird, the activist faces charges after posting on Facebook. Police booked him under FIR No. 15(7)2026CCPS at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Manipur.
Authorities invoked sections 196(1)(a), 197(c), 353(1)(b)(c), and 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The TNL claims these posts merely highlight the suffering of the Naga community during the ongoing Manipur crisis. They argue the content does not constitute a legal offense. The group says officials are showing an “undue flexing of power” by targeting legitimate social advocacy.
The organization stands by Freebird. They insist his work upholds Naga identity and dignity. Citing Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution, the TNL demanded that law enforcement respect freedom of speech. They warned that if the investigation remains biased, the group will launch a democratic movement. Pressure is mounting. The TNL expects a fair process immediately.
