Imphal: Congress leaders attacked Union Home Minister Amit Shah on November 5. They demanded he step down from his post. Pawan Khera, head of the Congress media department, directed the challenge at Shah following his recent comments. Shah had dismissed the INDIA bloc rally held on November 1 as a Ghuspetiya Bachao event rather than a campaign to protect voting rights.

Khera pointed to severe gaps in national security under Shah's watch. He cited the three-year crisis in Manipur and failure to manage infiltration, noting that three crore infiltrators remain in the country after seven years. The list of grievances included the Pulwama and Pahalgam attacks, the Red Fort blast, and the recovery of 300 kg of RDX near the capital. Arunachal Pradesh also faces ongoing instability. Khera challenged the minister directly: "Mota bhai, if the Home Ministry is beyond your control, why are you still clinging to that chair?"

The Congress leader suggested Shah return to his former role as BJP national president. He told the minister to stop sinking the ship and move his political efforts away from the ministry. Khera also took a jab at BJP president Nitin Nabin, suggesting he should be set free from his duties.

Shah defended the BJP track record during a rally in Karnal, Haryana. He promised the party would identify and deport infiltrators to uphold the resolve to detect, delete, and deport. He also accused Rahul Gandhi of ruining the culture of Parliament. Shah claimed the opposition leader ignores debate and favors boycotts. The verbal clash highlights deep divisions over national security and legislative conduct.
