Guwahati: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang opened the renovated Sikkim Guest House in Guwahati on Wednesday. The building sits in the Panjabari area. It now features a vertical extension to handle more guests.
The facility holds 20 rooms total. This count includes two VIP suites. Five flat units and two dormitories round out the new quarter block. Officials hope the upgrade makes life easier for travelers and students from Sikkim. It provides a reliable home base.
Tamang told the crowd to protect the building. He wants officials and visitors to treat the site like their own property. Collective effort keeps the place running well. "I appeal to all officials and guests to treat the Guest House as their own, maintain it with care, and help preserve its facilities," Tamang said.
The Chief Minister also wants the kitchen to serve authentic Sikkimese food. He believes this brings a taste of home to those living in or visiting Assam. The project highlights the Sikkim government's goal to support its people outside state lines. Tamang expects the site to strengthen the ties between Sikkim and Assam for years to come.
