Sikkim to Open New Lumsey Administrative Hub on September 15

Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang confirmed that the new Jan Sewa Bhawan in Lumsey starts operations on September 15. The mini secretariat opens its doors following a Vastu puja ceremony held by the Chief Minister on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and Teej.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi previously held a virtual inauguration for the facility. Multiple departments will move into the site to speed up public services. These include the Rural Development, Health and Family Welfare, Education, and Water Resources departments, as well as the Sikkim Public Service Commission. The move aims to cut down travel time and costs for residents living in distant districts.

"This is not merely a new government building; it is another important step towards our vision of bringing governance closer to the people and making public service delivery simpler, faster and more accessible," Tamang said. The facility is a key part of the government plan to decentralize administration and improve response times for citizens.

Tamang stated that his administration prioritizes infrastructure upgrades in roads, healthcare, and education. He expects staff working at the new site to show more efficiency and compassion. The government believes this shift places the welfare of the people at the core of its daily operations.
