Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang praised the Vishwakarma community for their hard work and craftsmanship on September 23. He spoke at the Vishwakarma Pratibha Samman 2026 held at Manan Kendra in Gangtok. He noted that the values tied to Lord Vishwakarma regarding creation and building remain vital for the state today.
"The Vishwakarma community has always played an important role in society and nation-building through skill, craftsmanship, hard work, creativity and entrepreneurship," Tamang said. He handed out awards to high achievers and winners of various events hosted during the program.
The festivities featured a blood donation drive, a Youth Parliament, and a Maruni dance. Attendees also participated in Bhajan competitions, the Mr and Mrs Vishwakarma contest, and a Mum and Me event alongside the traditional Vishwakarma Puja. The Vishwakarma (Kami) Kalyan Samiti organized the diverse schedule of activities.
Tamang highlighted how the government pushes young people to be self-reliant and skilled. He argued that spotting talent helps the state grow. The Chief Minister promised that his administration will continue to prioritize inclusive development and protect the cultural heritage of Sikkim for future generations.
