Police Seize Heroin and Cash in Dibrugarh Drug Raid

Guwahati: Dibrugarh Police shut down a major drug operation in Tingkhong on Friday night. Officers moved on specific intelligence to intercept a heroin shipment. The raid yielded 1.35 kg of the drug, packed inside 107 soap boxes, and Rs 14,06,600 in cash.

Police seized the haul from a Bolero pickup and the home of the accused. The operation also resulted in the seizure of two vehicles. A police official confirmed the scope of the bust, stating, "During the operation, 1.35 kg of heroin (concealed in 107 soap boxes), along with Rs 14,06,600 in cash, was seized from a Bolero pickup vehicle and the house of the accused."

Authorities arrested Gulapi Gogoi during the sweep. The primary suspect, Manoj Gogoi, managed to escape and currently remains on the run. Police are actively hunting for him.

The Assam Chief Minister's Office posted on X that this raid strikes a heavy blow to the Naharkatia drug network. Officials claim this is among their largest anti-narcotics successes to date. As one officer put it, "We launched the operation after receiving a tip-off about narcotics trafficking. It is one of the biggest anti-narcotics operations conducted by the police."
