Guwahati: Authorities rescued a 10-year-old girl from a home in the Odalbakra area of Guwahati. The residence belongs to a police couple. Sub-Inspector Sahadev Biswas of the Bashistha Police Station and officer Madhurima Das of the Dispur Police Station live there.

The child is originally from the Tinsukia district in Upper Assam. She had been living with the officers for several months. Officials suspect she was working as a domestic helper. The details remain murky. Investigators brought the girl to the Kahilipara Police Station for questioning to piece together exactly how she ended up in the home.

The investigation is ongoing. Officials are looking into the arrangement and potential misconduct. Regarding the probe, officials stated, "Further action is expected after the completion of the inquiry." No charges have been filed yet while the department looks for the facts.
