Agartala: Amtali police caught the prime suspect in the murder of Govinda Das. A special team led by Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das made the arrest in Agartala. The suspect lives in the Rani Khamar neighborhood, the same area where the attack occurred on the night of July 13.
Das died early Saturday morning. He had been receiving medical care for his wounds since the incident. Authorities initially opened a case under Section 117(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, but they upgraded the investigation to murder after he passed away.
Paritosh Das confirmed the sequence of events to reporters. "On the night of 13 July, a man named Govinda Das was allegedly assaulted in the Rani Khamar area," he stated. The officer noted that the victim "succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment."
The suspect appeared in court after police took him into custody. Investigators are still digging into the motive behind the attack. They have not ruled out further arrests as they continue to build their case.
