Police Arrest Barpeta Man Following Fatal Kahilipara Scuffle

Guwahati: Guwahati Police caught a 37-year-old man for a deadly fight in Kahilipara. Officers apprehended Khanin Das on July 27 with help from Barpeta Police. He sat in hiding for 25 days. The case roots back to a scrap in Ujal Nagar during the early hours of July 2.

A resident of Metuakuchi Santinagar in Barpeta district, Das fought with Abdul Razzak. The dispute turned physical and left Razzak hurt. Medics at Dispur Polyclinic Hospital declared Razzak dead upon arrival. A Kaium Khan of Krishna Nagar in Japorigog filed the initial complaint.

Dispur Police Station opened a file on the matter under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Police stated, "Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation." A court remanded Das to judicial custody following his arrest. Detectives now work to pin down the exact sequence of events leading to the death.
