Guwahati: Guwahati police officers took down a suspected drug runner in the Basistha area. They arrested Pradip Pal during a targeted operation. Pal hails from Sivasagar, Assam. The cops caught him with a stash of cannabis in his possession.
Authorities seized a two-wheeler used by the suspect to move the product. Police claim Pal spent a long time involved in the illegal transit of contraband. Officials are digging deeper to find the source of the drugs.
"Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify any other persons linked to the alleged smuggling network," a police spokesperson said. Investigators are currently working to map out the broader network behind these shipments.

The operation grew beyond the initial cannabis bust. An East Guwahati Police District team from the Basistha station apprehended a second suspect, 25-year-old Janki Devi. Both she and Pal are residents of Natun Bazaar.
Authorities recovered 88 grams of heroin tucked into seven soap boxes. They also hauled in 2,490 Nitro-10 tablets weighing nearly 2 kilograms. Both suspects remain in custody as investigators process the seized cache.
