Kohima: Pfutsero Government College hosted a seminar on August 4 to tackle cybercrime, career paths, and gender rights. The Internal Complaints Committee and Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized the event alongside Phek Police. Experts addressed students, faculty, and entrepreneurs at the college auditorium.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ramneek Gautam warned students about digital predators. He flagged social media loan apps that steal personal photos to fuel extortion schemes. Gautam urged students to report cybercrime immediately to help police catch offenders. He said intimate photos shared online often turn into tools for harassment after breakups.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Pritpal Kaur Batra offered strategies for passing UPSC, NPSC, and other competitive exams. She advised students to use online resources and smartphones to study without expensive coaching. She stressed that dedication matters more than privilege. Dr. Batra also focused on gender equality and bodily autonomy. Regarding consent, she stated, "No means No."
Dr. Batra warned that filing false cases hurts real victims who need help. She told students to speak up against discrimination and act as ambassadors for social justice. Retainer Lawyer Sekhotso Rokha explained the legal rights of women and children. He discussed the POCSO Act and the Right to Education Act. He reminded the audience that POCSO provides protection to all children under 18.
Executive Director Nezelu Nyekha spoke on entrepreneurship. She defined it as a method to solve community problems through innovation. Nyekha identified specific opportunities for students in agropreneurship and food production. Sutoli Sema chaired the event. Teithuvina Nukhu led the invocation.
