Kohima: UCO Bank delivered a fleet of scooties to the Kohima Deputy Commissioner’s office on August 19. The handover took place inside the DC chamber. Attendees included Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem, UCO Jorhat Headquarters Resources Head Acharya Sonowal, and staff from both the bank and the local administration. This marks a new CSR initiative for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The bank aims to assist with daily field duties and public service delivery. The machines provide a tangible asset for the district staff. B. Henok Buchem thanked the bank for the gear. He noted, "This is a first-of-its-kind contribution to the office in terms of providing movable assets of direct utility."
Buchem expects this move to aid field work significantly. He also urged other local banks to look into similar public service projects. Timothy, the Kohima Branch Head, stated that UCO Bank operates nine branches across Nagaland with two based in Kohima. The Kolkata-based bank allocates two percent of its average net profit from the last three years to CSR.
The bank focuses on rural development, financial inclusion, and community projects. Timothy emphasized the bank's commitment to grassroots growth. Both parties plan to build on this relationship to support future development in the district.
