Kohima: The Spices Board Office in Dimapur teamed up with Ahthibung Farmers Producer Company Ltd to hold a regional seminar on August 4. They met at the KIN Conference Hall in Ahthibung Town, Peren district. Adelah Poumai from the Spices Board moderated the event. Pastor Ruzo Pame opened the day with a prayer. Aakam Pame from Basix Krishi Samruddhi provided the welcome address to the 103 attendees representing eight villages across the Ahthibung subdivision.
Benathung Lotha, a District Field Consultant for the Horticulture Office, led a session on business growth. He mapped out strategies for better market linkages and value addition for Naga King Chilli. Lotha urged growers to focus on these practices to improve income. He told the group, "He also encouraged farmers to adopt value-added practices for sustainable livelihoods and enterprise development."
Samsing Taro of the Spices Board followed with a deep dive into scientific ginger cultivation. He focused on Good Agricultural Practices and disease control. Taro emphasized the shift toward organic farming methods. He pointed to the rising value of ginger in international markets as a major target. Aakam Pame closed the seminar by asking farmers to bring these new techniques back to their fields to lift regional productivity.
