Kohima: Jingkhu Muzing Mulong teamed up with the Small Industries Development Bank of India to host a financial literacy workshop at Town Hall in Seyochung Town. The September 18 event gave families, Self Help Groups, and local entrepreneurs a crash course in managing their cash. CEO of Akehda Amulung Kiphire led the training.
The session hit the basics. Participants learned how to earn, spend, save, borrow, and protect their money. The workshop pushed for strict household budgeting and daily expense tracking. It also forced a deep look at Panchasutra principles for Self Help Groups, including regular meetings, timely loan repayments, and keeping up to date books.
Borrowing was a major focus. Attendees learned to scrutinize interest rates, fees, and total repayment schedules before signing for a loan. Digital security got its own segment. Experts warned everyone to stay alert, telling the group: "Never to share OTPs, UPI PINs, ATM PINs or passwords, and to remain alert against fake links, fraudulent calls, QR code scams, fake rewards and loan offers."
Organizers covered insurance, government schemes, and banking services. They stressed the need to keep personal and business money in separate piles. The day wrapped with a practical 7 day money action plan. Attendees left with instructions to record income, check bank records, and set specific financial goals to build long-term stability.
