Kohima: Nagaland University's National Service Scheme unit added 91 volunteers to its ranks on September 16. The event took place at the School of Engineering and Technology in Meriema. It served as both an orientation and an official registration drive for new members.
Shanchamo Yanthan, the NSS Programme Officer, walked the recruits through the organization's goals. He explained how the service links higher education directly to the needs of the community. Yanthan stressed the importance of the core motto. He stated, "Not Me But You," which signals that volunteers must put the welfare of others ahead of their own interests.
The unit plans a heavy workload ahead. They will run campus initiatives, community outreach projects, awareness programs, and special camps. Leaders also walked the students through the digital registration process on the official mybharat.gov.in website.
The orientation ended with a national challenge. Volunteers took the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2027 quiz. The test features 20 general knowledge and policy questions. It typically takes between five and ten minutes to finish. Any youth across the country can still access the quiz online using an email address or mobile number.
