Kohima: District authorities in Meluri and Kohima held reviews for the PM Poshan and Samagra Shiksha programs. Meluri Deputy Commissioner Phuleshe K. Yepthomi chaired a session on July 15. Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem led his district's meeting on July 14, 2026. The meetings targeted better service delivery.
Kohima officials noted the timely arrival of foodgrains but raised concerns over quality and inconsistent amounts. They decided school staff must attend distribution to verify quantities. The review also tracked health interventions like deworming, iron and folic acid supplementation, and general school health screenings.
Construction progress for hostels under PM JANMAN and DAJGUA remains a priority. Kohima reported no hostels started under PM JANMAN yet. Regarding APAAR ID generation, the district reached 56 percent saturation with 21,949 IDs completed. Officials cited Aadhaar mismatches and limited computer access as roadblocks. They plan to run awareness campaigns and decentralize authorization to boost those numbers.
Yepthomi demanded better teamwork in Meluri. He appealed to the School Education, Social Welfare, and Health departments for tighter integration. "He urged departments to acknowledge and actively support one another so that the benefits of flagship programmes reach every eligible beneficiary in the district."
Participants in Meluri included the District Planning Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Senior Medical Officer, Range Forest Officer, Sub-Divisional Education Officer, and the Assistant Manager of SBI Meluri. Both districts discussed the solarization of schools and critical steps to speed up implementation.
