Kohima: North East Christian University and Cooperl Trading India Private Limited officially committed to a partnership. They signed a Letter of Intent in New Delhi. The collaboration aims to sharpen skill development and training for Nagaland's piggery sector. It remains a work in progress. NECU Pro-Chancellor Prof. Darlando T. Khathing and Cooperl India General Manager Julien Proux finalized the agreement.
The move follows a recent Memorandum of Understanding between the Nagaland government and the French-based Cooperl Group. That deal focuses on scientific breeding, farm modernization, and technical capacity. NECU now plans to weave academic rigor into this industrial push. They are weighing options for short-term courses and certificate programs. Practical training and field-based learning top the agenda.
Proposed curriculum includes animal nutrition, biosecurity, and herd genetics. They will also look at farm management and health protocols. "Through this initiative, NECU aims to combine its academic and training capabilities with Cooperl’s technical and industry experience," the university stated. Capt. G. S. Rathee helped bridge the gap between all stakeholders. The partners intend to serve students, young professionals, and local farmers by mixing field experience with classroom instruction.
