Shillong: Amanche Ch Marak, daughter of the Danakgre A'king nokma, filed a criminal complaint against Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday, August 3. She submitted the FIR to the officer in-charge at the Araimile Outpost. The complaint alleges that the Chief Minister, alongside Deputy Commissioner Charming N. Sangma, oversaw the illegal distribution of land pattas in Tura.
Local officials from the Chinap Aslang locality also face accusations. Marak claims these individuals and government heads bypassed legal protections for subjudice land. Residents allegedly received these documents after paying a substantial lease fee. The FIR characterizes the move as a direct violation of the Sixth Schedule and constitutional rights.
Marak demands a full investigation into the distribution process. The legal filing labels the land grants as "an illegal land acquisition process" that constitutes contempt of court. The document calls for immediate charges under the Indian Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure. Marak insists the government ignored standing court orders regarding the status of these tribal lands.
